Vanadium Comics Presents: Citizens of Arkadium Under Siege as Renfield Ghouls Spread Terror

Citizens of Arkadium Under Siege as Renfield Ghouls Spread Terror
By Tina Hayward, Field Reporter
ARKADIUM – This morning, panic erupted in the south side of Arkadium as a swarm of Renfield Ghouls, grotesque creatures born from twisted magic, descended upon the city. Witnesses describe seeing the ghouls emerge from the storm drains and alleyways, their hollow eyes glowing with a hunger only matched by their brutal, clawed strikes against anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. The chaos has left Arkadium’s citizens on edge, with residents barricading themselves in homes and storefronts closed for safety.
Commissioner Rowland has issued a citywide warning, urging citizens to remain indoors while emergency responders contain the threat. "This is an unprecedented escalation," Rowland stated at a press briefing, "and we are committed to protecting Arkadium from these unnatural assailants. Our officers are working tirelessly, alongside some extraordinary allies, to put an end to this reign of terror."
Amid the chaos, two unlikely heroes have stepped forward. Detective Hiroshi Miike, well-known for his unyielding commitment to justice, and Ben Ferguson, the towering bouncer with a reputation for keeping the city’s underbelly in check, have joined forces. Together, Miike’s precise investigative tactics and Ferguson’s sheer strength have held back the advancing swarm, giving residents hope amid the horror.
Simultaneously, across town, Märlük—known on the streets as the Street Avenger—is caught in a different battle as the Minos Family and the Sons of Crete clash for dominance over Arkadium’s dwindling territories. With gang violence spilling into neighborhoods, it’s a fierce battle to prevent the city's descent into complete lawlessness. Märlük, a dark and elusive figure who has become something of a legend among Arkadium's citizens, fights alone, with whispers on the streets saying he’s "the shadow you don't see, but the justice you feel."
As the sun sets, Arkadium holds its breath, hoping for peace and praying for safety as heroes rise to meet the chaos. The Arkadi-Lamp Post will continue to keep you updated on this ongoing crisis as we learn more.
